I report to you propped up on my couch with a hot water bottle on my back and some electrolytes by my side.  In a surprise move, my back spasmed yesterday morning to the point of immobility, and I spent a good 40 minutes on my couch unable to move, wondering literally what to do.  I eventually regained mobility, got acupuncture, and was still in a lot of pain.  I was going to push through the day, and on my Chinese Doctor’s orders, I cancelled or rescheduled everything on my calendar – and I was in so much resistance!  The hardest part of the whole ordeal was…you guessed it…actually slowing down.

Despite the holiday hustle and bustle, this is the time of year to “go inside.” You’ve heard me talk about this before. The days are shorter, the dark is prevalent, and the veils between worlds are thinner. This is a time to dive deep, slow down, and restructure, and that was exactly what my body was telling me to do.

When I did slow down yesterday and drop into myself, I could see the matrices of my field and my world reconfiguring. The vortex of the New Year is upon us, and so we prepare now – on every level – to birth into 2016 with a solid foundation, and from that integrity, we build all of our visions and dreams.

Toggling between my bliss and misery yesterday, I had some simple lessons come to me that I wanted to share with you in this letter.  Use them now, for this time of year when we are simultaneously busier and more social than ever, and also feeling the call to drop deeply into connection with the god within.

  • Stay In the Moment – The minute I started thinking about everything I had to do before commencing a 25-hour journey to Bali on Thursday, my pain got worse. Stay in the moment to be with what is actually real, in the here and now, and you will stay out of overwhelm.
  • Breathe Deeply – Deep belly breathing triggers the vagus nerve, which activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which tells the body to relax. This built in “relax” switch never ceases to amaze me.
  • Ask for Help – You really really don’t have to do it alone, and you probably shouldn’t.
  • Love Yourself – When I remembered to talk to my body and thank it for being this amazing machine of biological perfection, I felt better. Wouldn’t you feel better if I told you that?
